Senior Infants Room 5: Maths 4 Fun Week 1

Room 5 was a very busy classroom on Friday. We welcomed several parents who helped us play some Maths games. We all had a chance to meet the parents and play games like Caterpillar Counting, Treasure Hunt and Car-Parking Domino. We had great fun and it was brilliant to see everyone working together. We can’t wait until next Friday when we can do it all over again! Many thanks to our volunteers without whom Maths 4 Fun would not happen.   Please click here to see some more photos and keep an eye out for our weekly...

Senior Infants Room 5: Waterproof or not?

Barnaby Bear sent us a letter asking if we could help him find some waterproof items. He is always getting wet at the picnics and needs to find something that will keep him dry. First, we picked the things we wanted to test. We picked tinfoil, newspaper, a plastic bag and some material. We predicted if each one was waterproof or not waterproof and then we tested them by pouring water over them. Ask us about our experiment! Please click here to see some more...

Senior Infants Room 5: Learning about time

Room 5 have been learning about time this week. We talked about the different times of the day – morning, afternoon, evening and night-time. We wrote about some of the things that we do at these times. Today we made our own clocks. We decorated them and the hands on our clock can even move around. Next week we are going to practise telling the time. Please click here to see some more photos....

Senior Infants Room 5: History

Today we were talking about our baby photographs. We talked about the different things we could not do when we were babies. We have learnt so much since those photographs were taken. We had to talk to our elbow buddy about the baby in the photograph and then we had to guess who the baby was! We loved comparing the baby photographs and trying to guess who the baby was. Look out for the baby photographs outside our classroom – coming soon! Please click here  to see some more photographs of our history lesson....

Senior Infants Room 5: A Special Visitor

During Science Week Room 5 welcomed a very special visitor. David the scientist showed us some animal skulls and we had to try and guess the animal.  We saw a cat’s skull, a horse’s skull and even a turtle’s skull! We conducted our own experiments and discovered that there is sugar in bread but no sugar in eggs. We are very grateful to David for letting us wear lab coats and talking to us about science.
