First Class Room 8: Welcome to our Museum

What an exciting and interesting week we had in Room 8! The boys and girls in Room 8 were studying the life of a famous nurse named, Florence Nightingale. This week, we learned loads about Florence Nightingale and her life as a nurse. Did you know that When Florence Nightingale returned to Great Britain she set up a school of nursing? Some of the students in room 8 would like to be a nurse so they can assist people just like Ms. Nightingale did. Using items which were used during the time of Florence Nightingale, we set up our very own Museum in our classroom. We couldn’t believe that the tall porcelain objects were in fact hot water bottles. Look at the picture and investigate our many...

First Class Room 8: Science Expedition

On Thursday, the boys and girls in Room 8 and 9 attended a science expedition in their very own class room. The children got to see the three main elements of science (biology, physics and chemistry) in action. In room 8, our favourite experiment was making elephant toothpaste, especially the part when it flowed out of the bottle like a volcano. We also enjoyed seeing static electricity make Barbie’s hair stand on top of her head. Did you know that if you put some cornflour into water and hit it to make it splash, it simply won’t? The scientist told us that this is because the liquid (cornflour and water) has high viscosity. Cool! For more pictures of our science expedition click...

First Class Room 8: Our Tree-rific Art

As we entered our last month of Autumn we noticed that leaves were EVERYWHERE, so what better than to turn the fallen leaves in to artwork. In room 8 we spent a long time learning how to draw a detailed tree. We used a video from YouTube to help us with this. It was very difficult so we practiced first. Once we were happy with our drawing we then coloured in the background using oil pastels. (Did you know: Oil pastels give a better coverage compared to crayons). To finish off, we stuck some leaves on to our tree and created an autumnal tree. Have a look at some of our finished work by clicking...

Plus it’s really fun which is an added bonus!   Take a look at us busy at work by clicking...
