Sports Day 2017

What a fantastic Sports Day we had at CSCNS! We got great weather, great county representatives (the children), great parent volunteers and spectators, and great teachers facilitating the event. First Class Room 9: School Tour to Dublin Zoo

First class went to Dublin Zoo on the school tour on Thursday 25th May 2017. We had a fantastic time and saw everything from snakes to sea lions, and giraffes to gorillas. The weather was fantastic as you can see from the photos below. Thank you very much to the parent/guardian volunteers who helped us out for the day – Laura, Karen, Simona, Nicola, Claire, Nicola and John on camera!! First Class Room 9: Change and Continuity in Saggart

Room 9 have been looking at change and continuity this week in Saggart Village for History. We learned that change is change and means that something different happens. We learned that when there is continuity in something it means that it stays the same. As historians we examined an old photo of Main Street in Saggart. We then went to visit the same scene and took a photograph with our eyes. We discovered that there was some continuity in the village and that some things had stayed the same. For example the walls, trees and church were present now and also 3 years ago when the old photo was take. We also discovered that some things had changed in the villages, in particular the foot bridge in the photo below. We are now going to try to discover why this bridge was removed. First Class Room 9: Literacy Week 2017

First Class Room 9 had a fantastic time during Literacy Week 2017! Here are some of the things we did! 1. We had a book quiz. 2. John, Niamh and Laura came into read stories to us. 3. We all exchanged an old book from our home for a new book that used to belong to someone else. We had great fun reading these. 4. Everyone in Room 9 got a €1.50 book token to spend towards a book of our choice in a book shop. 5. On Thursday it was World Book dress up day! First Class Room 9: Capital B

Today Room 9 learned how to write capital B. We already knew how to write small b. Capital letters are used at the start of every sentence and for every boy, girl, mammy and daddy, aunt and uncle! To learn capital B we first used sand trays. The feeling of the sand running between our fingers is such fun! After plenty of practice using the sand trays we tried writing a few sentences beginning with capital B in our writing copies! We did fantastic work as you will see from the pictures below!
