First class went to Dublin Zoo on the school tour on Thursday 25th May 2017. We had a fantastic time and saw everything from snakes to sea lions, and giraffes to gorillas. The weather was fantastic as you can see from the photos below. Thank you very much to the parent/guardian volunteers who helped us out for the day – Laura, Karen, Simona, Nicola, Claire, Nicola and John on camera!! Please see the photographs here. A very special thank you to Ms. Bates who organised the entire trip. I know everyone will agree when I say she did one TERRIFIC job! Thank you Ms. Bates....

What wonderful weather we are having. We took advantage of the nice weather to conducted a field study in geography. We were learning about play places, keeping them tidy and safe so we decided to take a trip to the playground. We also had time to play while we were there too. In maths we were learning about capacity. We had great fun measuring how many jugs/spoons/ cups it took to fill a container. We learned that just because a container is the tallest, it doesn’t always hold the most. Some containers are short but wide and they hold a lot of water too. Have a look at more of our pictures here....

Our class was delighted to hear stories from the grandparents’ own school days, especially the clothes they wore and the games they played. We also got to show our visitors all the work we have been doing lately, particularly learning about Space, and even got to discuss the Moon Landing with those who remembered watching it live! ...
