Fifth Class Room 14: Pulleys in Action

Fifth class have begun learning all about Egpyt. Did you know that the ancient Egyptians used a variety of simple machine to construct the pyramids. One machine which they invented was the pulley. They used pulleys to help lift the heavy blocks into the pyramid form we see today. In Room 14 we designed and made our very own pulleys. We firstly we drew a plan. We then made pulleys using hangars, twine, plastic straw, sellotape, spools, wire cutters and a weight! We had lots of fun! Please see some pictures of us designing and making here!...

CSCNS Sports Day 2018!

What a fantastic sports day we had at CSCNS this year! Running, crawling, hopping, skipping, dancing, bouncing, throwing, catching, orienteering – you name it, the boys and girls at CSCNS can do it, with great skill and a smile on their faces! Some children were awarded with special medals for demonstrating particular effort, skill and talent – huge congrats to these winners!  Absolutely ALL of the children should feel proud of themselves however for taking part, being active and healthy, and showing a great sense of sportsmanship at their sports day this year. Many thanks to all of the teachers and parents who helped to co-ordinate and facilitate the day, and special thanks to Ms Bates for overseeing it all and ensuring it was a great success! Junior Infants School Tour and Teddy Bear Picnic

What an adventure the Junior Infants had on their first ever school tour to Imaginosity! They loved getting the big bus with their friends, and counting down the minutes (literally) until they arrived. They had a picnic outside Imaginosity before they went in, to give them lots of energy for playing, and play they did! They started on the top level in the garden with the sleeping badger- zzZZZ! Then they climbed the tunnel, went into the house, used diggers to build and break down walls, and played with the dolls houses and pattern blocks. Next they made their way to the recording studio where they played dress up and read the news on a REAL telly! On the first floor they went shopping for food in the supermarket, served it up in the diner, played doctor in the surgery, and raced lots of very fast cars!              The Junior Infants had so much fun, and made their teachers and parents very proud by playing nicely, sharing with eachother, and by being very respectful and cleaning up before they went home. To reward them, and celebrate all of their learning this year, the Junior Infants had a teddy bear’s picnic on the yard and you can see more photos of them  right here. Well done Junior Infants – you’re going to be super Senior Infants next year 🙂...
