Senior Infants Room 4: School Tour to Lullymore

We had a great time in Lullymore. We loved playing in the playground especially on the zipline and crazy golf. Next we got a tour and we saw some really old houses. Then it was time to see the animals, we loved the goat called Billy. Finally it was time for a train ride before we went home. What an incredible day. Take a look at our photos here....

Junior Infants Room 2: At school, with their grandparents!

Room 2 have been exploring the theme of ‘School’ over the last few weeks. They have been discussing all the things they do in school at the different times of day, and what they do at home in the evenings, and night time. They also designed their own school uniforms, read stories about school, and had so much fun playing ‘teacher’ in their own ‘mini-school’ in the classroom! One of the children’s favourite ways to explore the theme of ‘school’ however, was learning about school long ago. They loved becoming historians and examining evidence and pictures of school now, and school then, and presenting their findings to their classmates! Room 2’s favourite thing of all however, was having their grandparents come into their class to tell them about school long ago. They answered lots of questions, and were even kind enough to read the children stories. Room 2 performed a poem for the grandparents then about all the wonderful ways they like to spend time with them. If any of the grandparents couldn’t make it, let Ms. Larkin know and she will send you a video of the children’s performance! To see more photos of Room 2 at school...

Arts and Crafts Club

The Arts and Crafts club did phenomenal CRAFTY creative work this term! For their first project, they planned and made Valentine’s day hearts out of clay, which they incised with special messages for their loved ones using tooth picks! Following this, they made Mother’s day cards, frames, and flower bouquets using a range of materials and their fantastic imaginations! Next, they took a vote and decided to make animal masks. They did a preparatory drawing first to be sure of the colours, patterns, and materials they wanted to use to make them. Then they constructed them, and selected fabric and fibre materials to add details. Some of their masks were different from their plans, but we decided that’s OK! It’s good to be creative and change your mind as you experiment 🙂 Finally, the A&C club decided to construct hats and headdresses using 3D materials. This time they didn’t do a plan, preferring instead to let their work evolve as they went… and some VERY creepy and cool alien hats emerged! Have a look at some of their amazing work here ! Thanks to all for joining us this term, and hopefully we’ll see you again for some crafty fun soon 🙂 *The A&C club is over for this term, but we hope to run another next term- details to follow. Please note that if your child has already attended the club in Term 1 or 2, that preference will be given to new-comers first, to ensure children all have at least one turn. Many...

Principal: Sports Day

Hi everyone We had an absolutely fantastic day on Wednesday up in St. Mary’s GAA club for our Sports Day. We were quite lucky with the weather in the end as we were able to do the whole day, without getting too wet. The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the variety of non-competitive and competitive activities that they played. I would like to sincerely thank all of the parent volunteers who made the day possible. We rely heavily on our parents for events like this to work and because so many of you were able to free yourselves up to help out, the day was a huge success. I would particularly like to thank Ms. Looney, Ms. Bates and Ms. Feeney for the incredible amount of organisation that went into the day. As always, their professional approach meant that the day ran without any hitches. I hope you all enjoyed the ice-cream!! If you would like to see some photos from the day, click here....
