Principal: Sports Day

Hi everyone We had an absolutely fantastic day on Wednesday up in St. Mary’s GAA club for our Sports Day. We were quite lucky with the weather in the end as we were able to do the whole day, without getting too wet. The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the variety of non-competitive and competitive activities that they played. I would like to sincerely thank all of the parent volunteers who made the day possible. We rely heavily on our parents for events like this to work and because so many of you were able to free yourselves up to help out, the day was a huge success. I would particularly like to thank Ms. Looney, Ms. Bates and Ms. Feeney for the incredible amount of organisation that went into the day. As always, their professional approach meant that the day ran without any hitches. I hope you all enjoyed the ice-cream!! If you would like to see some photos from the day, click here....

Principal: From small beginnings

This photo was taken at the ceremony last night. Ava was the first child every enrolled in the school so it was very appropriate that she got to cut the cake! It was just the two of us for about 2 days before we had the next person signing up. Luckily, we got up to 22 before the school actually opened that September!...

Principal: The Minister for Children pays a visit

Hi all The last 24 hours have been probably the most exciting of my career to date. I have been absolutely blown away by the reaction of the parents and children to last night’s celebrations. If anyone has any good photos from last night of the children performing, please email them to me on sconboy@cscns.ie All of the teachers and children were still buzzing this morning. We had invited Katherine Zappone (Minister for Children) to the event last night but she was unable to attend. However, she did come out to the school this morning to pay a visit. She watched the video with second class and they performed their song ‘Together we can Change the World’ which was so appropriate to be singing to the Minister for Children! I’m still reeling after her reaction to the work in the school. She has worked in education for years and she said she had never seen a school like this one before. She said she will be getting straight on to her colleague, Minister Richard Bruton (Education) to tell him about this school. She wants to widely share our video as an example of where schools should aspire to be. Incredible! It’s always interesting to see the school from an outsider’s perspective. I am just so full of pride of what we have together developed over the past 4 years. I am also really excited about what lies ahead in our future. Séamus  ...

Principal: Our First Holy Communion

Hi everyone I was absolutely delighted to be there on Sunday when some of the Catholic children in 2nd class made their First Holy Communion. This was a truly special day for the children and their families. The children all looked absolutely beautiful in their suits and dresses. We were all so proud to see them in the church. They were fantastic ambassadors for our school as they behaved so well all the way throughout the mass. I would like to say a special thank you to the parents of our 1st class children and some parents of other children in 2nd class who were not making their communion, for coming along and helping out by throwing a party for them. I am confident that next year’s 1st class parents will do the same for you. I would also like to say a very special thank you to Ms. Whyte for the incredible amount of work she put into making the day as meaningful as possible for the children. I was speaking with Fr. Enda afterwards and he agreed that the children were very aware of the meaning behind the day and that they had been exceptionally well prepared for this sacrament by Ms. Whyte. Principal: We are the Fitness Five!!!

Hi everyone 5 of the Scoil Niamh staff had great fun last night participating in the Dublin Staff Relay in the Phoenix Park. We were absolutely delighted with our times. We had predicted we would do the 25km in 2.5 hours, with 30 minutes each to do 5km. However, we way exceeded our own expectations. We are thrilled to be going round this morning showing off our medals to the children for a change....

Principal: Citywest & Saggart CNS

Hi everyone I am sure the very observant parents have already noticed our new signs! Our first signs bearing our new school name and crest were put up last week. I am absolutely delighted to see this move to our new school name start to take place. We will not be officially launching the new school name until May, 27th so most of our new signs will go up that week. I really hope all parents and anyone in the community interested in visiting the school, will come to the launch on May 27th. Thanks!...
